My girlfriend's father died suddenly on January first of this year, and since then it's been hard for us to find meaning in our everyday lives. Your Name tackles as its central metaphor the idea of "musubi," the knotting of all life to itself, the interconnected nature of humanity, so even as it meandered through its intricate exploration of Japanese culture I felt him with me. We will not forget his name.
