    I was sad to miss this film in theaters last year but overjoyed when Netflix added it recently. I am a fan of Murakami, though I have not yet read the short story on which Burning is based. But this film does an excellent job of replicating the Murakami atmosphere, in no small part due to it nailing many of his tropes:

    -someone calling the protagonist repeatedly but not talking

    While its age is starting to show, it remains a classic. Cameron is, and has always been, the best. 

    Watched at home on the couch on my last night living in Chicago.

    This was a good time at the movies!

    Rocketman has a sweaty first few minutes but it builds speed quickly and really achieves liftoff when Taron Egerton makes his chronological debut in the film, jumping into a fittingly vivacious rendition of "Saturday Night's Alright". From then on, I was totally strapped in. The movie excels on its performances, just about everyone is enjoyable and believable but the three male leads are stand outs.
