The return of The Dark One means the first of the darker ones. It’s a bit of a time filler between big events but it has some of the best moments in the series to make up for it.

Two small moments stood out to me in this. One where Leroy’s dad turns round at the chippy and sees the police car next to his truck and turns back to sigh, the look on his face saying he knows his day is about to get worse. It's nice to see a film about priests not being pure evil.
It’s more watchable and much better directed than The One Thousand Corpses and even picks up towards the end when the family actually comes against someone who’s a threat. Enjoyed the final use of music as well. There’s still too much of RZ transparently trying to be edgy by having his characters do and say everything that’s as heinous as possible, which is a bore.
