Samuel Ellmer’s review published on Letterboxd:
Didn’t even notice there weren’t any Hendrix songs in the film until I started reading all the negative reviews noting it.
So it’s an unofficial biopic. I’ve just come into this having seen the Mötley Crüe endorsed The Dirt, and if anything not having an estate’s weight hanging over you can really help to create a more honest and if need be brutal portrayal of a subject.
Which is surely what you want from a biopic?
