Seth’s review published on Letterboxd:
This was the only Harry Potter-film I never watched on the big screen. I was 12 when it got released and I had read the first two books the year before.
Mom and dad went on a date night - as they usually did on Friday night - and then announced afterwards with a slimy grin on their faces they’d seen “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”. I was so mad at them that weekend.
I’ve rewatched this many times after my first viewing on DVD and this is one of those film-series I can watch every year again.
“Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” is the first part (of 8 films) in the Harry Potter-series. It’s well-cast, often very funny and is a worthy attempt to retain as much of the spirit of the book as you could expect.
