Jake O'Brien’s review published on Letterboxd:
Nearly unwatchable, but will be lauded by the church of A24 for being “uncompromising” and “inaccessible”. Before anyone suggests that I merely misinterpreted what was happening, let me say that confusion is not the source of my disdain. It was the unbearable presentation and subsequent pretension that derailed this thing from the very start. How sad is it that you could clean your room, do the dishes, half-listen to the dialogue the characters are speaking, and still not miss out on a single narrative or visual pleasure? That’s because it has none to offer. It’s not a movie. Sure, it’s “by design”... whatever the fuck that means.
