This review may contain spoilers.
A decent, but slow-paced and muddled debut film that has an incredible performance by Toni Collette and one shocking (if not particularly horror-y) set piece, but I can't for the life of me understand why people are losing their minds over this and calling it one of the scariest movies of all time. I know this stuff is subjective, but I didn't find it remotely scary.
HERE GOES THE SPOILER:
I mean, let's be real here, this is just an Oscar-bait family melodrama that turns into Paranormal Activity 3 at the end. It ain't the second coming of The Exorcist. Or even The Exorcist II.
