Spider-Man: Far from Home

Spider-Man: Far from Home ★★

Don't ever apologise for being the smartest one in the room.

Not seen this since it was released, there’s still a lot I don’t like choices wise.

Positives: Mysterio’s suit & sequence, Jake Gyllenhaal is very convincing, Tom Holland’s comedic timing is great, the film has funny moments (Mr Harrington is underrated) JK Simmons.

Negatives: Opening with a powerpoint presentation and saying “The Blip” You can tell exactly when a green screen has been used, the CGI has aged poorly for a 2019 film; the elementals, drones and on the SM suit (I watched this in 4K) red and black suit is a downgrade; still is an Iron Man suit with all the gadgets, the black noir suit is cheap looking, far too much MCU related stuff, the villain is created due to Iron man AGAIN. Action set pieces are a downgrade, Nick Fury being a skrull, the twist, the entire film relying on the glasses, there’s more comedy than there is story (Peter tingle, nearly every scene has a joke attached to it, it’s pretty much Ant Man and the Wasp but SM) the “you’re never going to be Iron Man” scene, Aunt May being okay with Peter being SM, Happy Hogan and Aunt May, Peter’s writing is inconsistent, the final swing is really boring, ugly and not that great visually/CGI wise. Peter’s arc is accepting he’s not going to be Iron Man (Iron boy Junior) and don’t trust someone you’ve known for a day.

It’s an all you can eat buffet when it comes to the MCU but I care more about Spider-Man than I do the MCU. I hope No Way Home is better than this but it sounds really bad.

Fun fact: The first Spider-Man film to gross over a billion.
