Krzysztof Kieslowski's The Double Life of Veronique is that gaze out of the window that meets the eye of seldom strangers, ones that look like you, and act like you & somehow they make you feel less alone in a world full of people.
The beauty of Kieslowski's film doesn't lie in how conveniently he shows connections between various emotions that a person posses, nor does it lie in the stunning mixture of sadness & happiness that sets onto the face of his characters, nor in the absolutely riveting use of sight and sound; it lies in those unexplained flashes of love, distress & fate that glimmer through dream-like mirages, only to convince you that these are figments of your own life.
The Double Life of Veronique evokes those long lost feelings in your head; ones that make you moan and cry as your sexual desires get fulfilled & your emoting senses get a final touch of clarity.
