I have a lot to say about this movie. First of all, when I first saw this movie when it just came out I simply wanted to see it because of Luca Guadagnino. I hadn't seen the original and I planned to watch it afterwards. However, what a mistake that was. I didn't have enough understanding of this movie which led to disappointment. I then watched the original, which led to even more disappointment. (I know the original is a favorite among the lovers of this genre, well, I'm an outsider to this genre so bare with me)
I decided to give the new version another try, and here we are. After having seen the original, I very much understood what Guadagnino was going for. He gave this story a convincing expansion which the original failed to provide. The original seemed to me as an unfinished project, I felt like a lot of things were missing.
My main problem with this movie (besides the final act, which looked more like Tarantino's wet dream) is that the movie shouldn't have been called "the new Suspiria remake". The two movies share a bit of the plot and characters, but besides that these are two completely different movies.
