A thought just came to mind...
What if Daniel Day Lewis' character name is Daniel because as a character actor, he wanted to get the full effect so he asked PTA if he could keep his name?
Or if he kept losing his shit on the set while filming and when he'd get too rough, he wouldn't respond to his own name...
PTA: Daniel! Calm down! We stopped filming 20 minutes ago!
Daniel: That's not my name!
PTA: Well it is now! Calm the fuck down and let the sound guy go!
Anyway, looking at this after looking at The Master, it's hard to say which I prefer. Both are phenomenal and I'd probably be going back and forth between which is better for years now.
What I do know for sure is that PTA is the best American director working today.
