is it too early to decide that this is my favorite film of the year???
when I first looked at this and saw that it was a romance, I thought to myself, I’ve been watching too many romantic movies recently, I’ll put this off for later. Boy am I glad I gave in to temptation. I have never seen a more true and pure and realistic portrayal of love and human attraction in my entire life....elio and Oliver are so .....I wish I could be them and I’m jealous of them and their summer fling in the sun drenched Italian summer
Not to mention everything literally every little detail in this movie is my dream life- the touching music, the verdant green foliage and trees, the apricot juice, the etymology lesson, the volleyball game, the clothing that elio and his girlfriend wears, the gorgeous Italian architecture, the grand piano, the rivers and water, the dinners and breakfasts out on the porch, the dancing, the swimming, the laying down in the grass, the fact that elios family is American Italian French and Jewish all at the same time, the intermingling use of English French and Italian throughout the film, the music transcribing, the reading, the unearthing archaeological artifacts and sculptures, the open minded gay dad, the peach flesh light, is sure there are a million other things I missed but I will be sure to rewatch this a million times so that every single detail will become embedded in my brain for the rest of my life because I don’t want to forget any of it.
