Moonstruck 1987
While this actual viewing has been a long time coming, I’ve watched the trailer for this movie countless times since it played before my all time comfort movie You’ve Got Mail on the vhs copy.
It is the result of that trailer that Cher’s iconic *slap* “snap out of it” has lived rent free in my mind for years. It basically made who I am today.

Spoiler Alert 2022
It is generic and predictable in all the ways you’d expect, but Showalter goes out of his way to keep the filmmaking engaging.
Parsons and Eldridge are a delightful match. I was particularly struck by Eldridge, who’s star i hope counties to rise.
While the script isn’t groundbreaking, it is effective. It’s funny and touching and, most importantly, feels truthful. It’s the kind of story I can’t currently relate to, but feel represented by seeing. It’s what this genre needs (from my perspective).
