Simon’s review published on Letterboxd:
So, so, so close to being a 5/5 for me. Any gripes I had with the ending on my initial viewing have faded as it’s fortunately not nearly as heightened as I remembered, and while the stereotypical gag elements still don’t really land, they didn’t take me out of the film this time around. What holds me back from going all the way on this one is that I still wish this focused more on Alana than Gary because she’s unquestionably the more engrossing of the two, both in performance and characterization. But in spite of that, this is still an exceptional work from PTA (firmly in my top 3 from him) and I very much hope Alana Haim continues to act in more films because she’s tremendous in this.
