Annette

Annette β˜…β˜…β˜…Β½

This was...an experience. One of the most bizarre things that I've ever watched. 🀯

I have a deep appreciation for Annette's uniqueness and ambition, even though it all didn't resonate with me. Talk about swinging for the fences! This was so damn weird but also super creative.

When I wasn't in the zone vibing with it, I found myself thinking or saying, "Wtf am I watching?!" That isn't really a bad thing. Hell, I was saying/thinking that during times that I was amused. Still, not everything along the narrative journey fully landed for me.

It's hard to describe how I feel about this. Didn't love it, but I mainly enjoyed it. I liked it. I really liked most of it. It's never not engaging. It's frequently amusing. Again, I love the creativity.

Random thoughts:

πŸ”ΉGoddamn, Marion Cotillard (whom I've loved since Love Me If You Dare) and "Mr. Unconventionally Attractive" Adam Driver make for a sexy couple!

πŸ”ΉThe sex scenes are the perfect blend of freaky, weird, and whimsical!

πŸ”ΉThe creepy rejected spawn of Chucky baby thing is...a choice. It was amusing. I liked it. It fit the movie's overall distinct weirdness.

πŸ”ΉC'mon, we all knew what was gonna happen when Driver's character invited dude to go talk outside!

πŸ”ΉNot the biggest fan of the comedy sets. I felt they went on for a bit too long and it just generally wasn't my thing. His act is like a stylized cross between a shock jock, Andy Kaufman, and Tom Green. (Apologies, my knowledge of white comedians are extremely limited, but you get the picture. πŸ˜‚)

πŸ”ΉI really liked the final song/performance with Adam Driver and the non-Chucky doll version of Annette.

πŸ”Ή There's a strong possibility that I'll rewatch this in the near future, so that's a plus.
