Sam Dierberger’s review published on Letterboxd:
Quite literally unlike anything I've ever seen, Sunset Boulevard mystefies in genre consistently throughout. There's heavy elements of humor, although the subject matter is rather dark. It feels rather like an early version of Seven Psychopaths in both subject and tone.
More importantly, the themes of disillusionment with fame is always relevant and this film probably first promegated them. Norma's agressive moves for importance, while annoyingly melodramatic, is a certain joy to watch.
Not of the greatness it's claimed to be, but an enjoyable film, nevertheless.
