    The Black Phone

    ★★★★

I remember looking at my local showtimes a week ago and being like “What the hell is The Black Phone?” Turns out to be a really good time at the movies! My screening was sold out except for the dreaded front row, which is a very odd thing to see these days since this isn’t tied to any franchise IP. Let’s keep that trend going - THE PEOPLE WANT TO SEE GOOD INDEPENDENT MOVIES.

  • Being There

    Being There

    ★★★★★

One of the most delightful and unique movies you could ever see. Chance’s dry and matter-of-fact humor is just absolute gold. I think on subsequent rewatches this will become one of my favorite movies of all time.

  • Elvis

    Elvis

    ★★★

The people who wanted Elvis kicked off stage and banned from television for “vulgarity” and “perversion” in his performances would be rolling over in their graves if they took a look at any of the Video Music Awards from the past couple years🤣

  • Spiderhead

    Spiderhead

    ★★

    A Netflix film indeed

A line that kept replaying in my head the entire time I was watching this is when Yoda says “Truly wonderful, the mind of a child is.” He certainly is right about that.

One of the stranger post-movie interactions I’ve had. As I was walking out, a lady in my row randomly started listing all the Cronenberg movies she’s seen to me, and expressed her disappointment with this one. Then she goes “That ending was very Phantom Thread.” I’ve been thinking about that comment all day and still haven’t the slightest fucking idea what she was talking about.
