Gritty, sleazy and filled with unrelenting violence, Maniac is unforgiving in its entirety. Not only does it look as if the camera lens is grimy, Frank is abhorrent. Generally we see serial killers as charismatic with good looks to boot (with exceptions). Frank has a whole Ed Kemper vibe going on.
