    The Breaker Upperers is pretty devoid of comedy or charm for claiming to be a charming comedy. I'm not sure if there's some form of cultural gap for what but nothing about this gelled with me at all. I do appreciate the nod that all New Zealanders know each other, what with Taika Waititi as producer and Jermaine Clement making a cameo.

    Unicorn Store is offbeat and strange, so often tiptoeing the line between surrealism and hyperrealism. There are jokes that completely miss the mark, and characters that feel unimportant to the overall story, but all works.

    Of course Unicorn Store resonates with artists, especially female artists, but there's something deeper here that feels like an individual take on the life of a young woman. And whether that woman is Brie Larson or writer Samantha McIntyre…
