This movie gets overlooked a lot. This is one of my favorite of Michael Mann's films. Its definitely a product of the 80's. But thats not necessarily a bad thing. It works well. This is an excellent police procedural. It's the first adaptation of Red Dragon. Brian Cox is excellent as the first portrayal of Hannibal Lector. And Tom Noonan as the Tooth Fairy is seriously terrifying. William Peterson really blew up with this and William Friedken's To Live and Die in L.A, which came out the year before. This is a fantastic serial killer film that a lot of people haven't seen
