This movie was one of my favorite of 2017 and I'm a little disappointed that it didn't get the recognition it deserves. The film Is full of the chemically bright colors of touristy Florida, seen through the eyes of seven-year-old Moonee and her friends. Living in an extended stay hotel with her mother, moonee and her teenage mother are not in a good place in life. However, despite the children living in borderline poverty, their positivity and wonder brings a sense of hope to the film that would be missing if told from a different perspective. Brooklyn Prince gives an amazing first performance as Moonee, showing a phenomenal range of emotion for such a young actor. Sean Baker's film does a great job in both staying positive and revealing a huge problem within American society. If you have not seen it yet, I strongly suggest taking the time to watch it.
