let this be a lesson that if you pressure your homie into chopping up a body, he may lose his mind a little bit and start living in your walls

Shallow Grave 1994
it’s like Friends, if Friends were directed by first-time filmmaker Danny Boyle by way of the Coens, with a strong display of the panache and kinetic style he would become known for in later features, where the “Friends” find a corpse and an exorbitant amount of money and do some pretty despicable things to hang onto it. also they hate each other but kinda care deeply for on another & could’ve definitely worked this out with a threesome if only someone had suggested it (alex that’s on you)!

The Fabelmans 2022
despite the “oscar bait” preconceptions, it’s amazing how a well-written, well-crafted, well-acted movie of this type can nimbly avoid becoming too schmaltzy or too mired in sentimentality while still being filled with SO much genuine love of a man for his parents. sammy fabelman i’m your number 1 fan.

Close 2022
I agree with those who say the first half is stronger/more focused than the second, and it definitely felt like there needed to be more remi in this story (the “twist” feels like a rug pull that’s not all-the-way earned since we glimpse so little of remi’s interiority) but overall… I loved this. there’s moments of delicate beauty and devastation all throughout, beautiful cinematography, superb performances. the two young actors are incredible in their roles; it’s impossible to watch them…
