Chuck Dowling’s review published on Letterboxd:
While I’ve got lots of concerns about elements in Toho’s latest live-action Godzilla film, it might be the first one to get the human characters right, and that is to be commended. The way this film depicts Japan’s political quagmire in dealing with a threat from an unknown monster destroying Tokyo is simply heartbreaking. There’s not another Godzilla film like this one, and that goes a long way.
