A Nightmare on Elm Street ★★★

2018

Watched this with my little sister and she fell asleep. Of all the films to fall asleep to...
Very hard to rate; my rating doesn't do it justice. I guess the viewing experience was a let-down for me, though I don't know what I expected. Wes Craven and me: "it's complicated".
I will grant that the translation of "dream logic" into visuals was mostly successful. I also liked those killings that were sudden and unexpectedly (or over-the-top) brutal. Craven has an inexplicable fascination with kids building traps and it's adorable. Loved Heather Langenkamp, and every scene with Nancy's mom made me laugh (watch her slink around the house like a tragic femme fatale fallen from grace).
