Brilliant twist ending aside, I don't really understand why this is considered a masterpiece. Not only is it slow as shit, and with a really boring protagonist, but it's not until about 80 minutes in that you get any sense of what the driving force of the narrative is actually meant to be. For far too long it just plays as a drama about a man getting off with sexy teachers. And Francesca Marciano really is particularly sexy, so who can blame him?
