Guys, did you even watch The Last Jedi? Because what I just witnessed was the best Star Wars experience since Empire Strikes Back.
Rian Johnson directs the shit out of the movie. He puts all the pieces into place. Rian said it himself. As the middle chapter in the Trilogy, he wanted to focus on the characters and story. And he does it all with ease. Every character is written with purpose, and they fit together as a perfect puzzle. We are introduced to new favorites, and grow deeper bonds and understanding of the ones we already know and love.

Rian Johnson hands down wrote the most stylish and unique entry in the Star Wars franchise to date, and it was not only awesome, but it was necessary.

So, "purists", you're right. Rian Johnson did kill Star Wars. He fucking killed it. YOU'RE WELCOME.
