A list for people whose only idea of Indian cinema is a 90s Shah Rukh Khan or 50s Satyajit Ray.
I wanted this to be a representation of modern Indian cinema so most movies are of after 2005 with very few exceptions where exceptional work had to be acknowledged or they shaped the future of mainstream cinema.
The list is not ranked. It ranges from honest attempts to exceptional pieces of cinema.
Most films are available on Netflix, Amazon, Mubi, MX Player, Zee5 and for free on YouTube.
