Eddie Murphy at his old school Mother F*ing best. If you liked Trading Places, Beverly Hills Cop and 48Hours this will track tonally. Even if it feels a little glossy. But the attitude and wide range of characters are there and Murphy feels right at home in Rudy Rays shoes. I don’t find the near constant cursing to be funny like I did as a teenager but there’s many shades to the setting and character still interesting and engaging. Da’Vine Joy Randolph who sparkles with a sassy thump and Wesley Snipes are the best additions but many who will be remembered throughout the cast.
