SnowboardJunkie’s review published on Letterboxd:
One of the great things about Letterboxd is how passionate I find people are with cinema. So many films I’d never heard of before. And finding some real gems amongst the trash. The Nice Guys was a big disappointment to me when I first saw it in theatres last year. But after my good friend TecTacToe recommended I give it another go around I decided to allow my expectations to reset and take his advice. The good is I see/heard a stronger script. Something us followers come to expect from Shane Black. And the chemistry between Gosling and Crowe really shines as before. A touch brighter even. But a second viewing still didn’t elevate it to greatness. More than anything I felt the ugliness of it’s characters, their motivations and the overall tone of the film seeped through even more. Further establishing the disdain I had overall. But I will say it’s a little better than I originally gave it credit for and have changed my rating accordingly.
