I could’ve watched hours & hours of this. It breezed by.

Fun three minutes. Each time Sonny Carl Davis said “C’mon……Ted” I laughed. Each & every time. Best compliment I can give this short.

“Americans live lives of quiet desperation.”

But it's loud.

I won’t pretend to have watched all of this, but the half an hour or so I did watch I enjoyed, if only from an historical perspective. It’s a museum piece, essentially, edited together just as the advent of digital was truly beginning. We must protect Richard Linklater at all cost.

Downing your martini before battling a demonic inter-dimensional one-eyed octoped is such an unparalleled move that the remaining 100 minutes of this film could’ve just been Stephen Strange kicking back post-wedding with a huge bag of Frazzles & some offensively cheap wine being all sad &c. that he didn’t bag Rachel McAdams & I would’ve been more than satisfied.

Had a lot of time for this back in the day, as I’d just finished reading the novel when the adaptation was announced. Time has been mostly kind to it.

Some bright spark gave Guy Ritchie twenty two million dollars to make a warm turd.

Hey, I love Adam Driver’s shit-eating grin as much as the next man, but there’s no amount of Al Pacino as fashionista that would ever make this melodramatic horror show worth watching.
