Truly amazing. I'm so happy I could finally see this. Like almost everyone else, I'm a huge fan of the original Trainspotting, it's one of my favorite films of all time. And I'm very happy to say, this film delivers out of the park. This is not the same film as the original. Yes, it has callbacks to the original. Yes, it has scenes just intended for nostalgia. But this film does so well in standing on it's own. It seems like, tonally, a completely different film. While the first one was an amazing black comedy, this works as a depressing dramedy. This film is basically the Logan to the Trainspotting universe. Showing the characters we love in a completely different film from anything they've done before. And my god, it fucking works. It's so much fun at first seeing the characters you know and love, but the film beneath it is truly depressing. Sometimes the film is heartbreaking. It's a near masterpiece of a film. My only minor issue is that it feels stretched out, it really didn't need to be 2 hours, 1 hour and 40 minutes would have been perfect. Although like I said, this is a small issue. Please watch T2 as soon as you can. And if you can't see it, buy the Blu-Ray or digital like I will be. If you love Trainspotting, you will love this. An absolute delight.
