baz luhrmann schools bryan singer and dexter fletcher for 159 minutes. all the glitz and glamour, which is done to perfection by luhrmann, a legend in full form, can’t hide the fact that this is one of the most upsetting and sad films i’ve seen this year. austin butler = movie star. legend in the making and definitely in the conversation for performance of the year. hearing denzel curry and kacey musgraves in this only cemented that this is the music biopic to beat.

  • Jurassic World Dominion

    Jurassic World Dominion

yet another one of these where the female lead is put down constantly in favor of showing how much of a badass chris pratt is…not a good look tbh

weirdly the only colin trevorrow movie with an interesting visual style, natural lighting and sets go a long way, studios take note

other than that this movie is pretty treacherous and pitiful especially in the writing and acting departments. this franchise’s lore is just a ton of glup shitto characters and…

  • Top Gun: Maverick

    Top Gun: Maverick

hell of a picture and one of the only legacy sequels to truly work for me, because of kosinski and cruise’s devotion to the art form. cruise is the undisputed GOAT of blockbusters and it’s always gonna be that way!

  • Men

way too full of itself and self serious for a movie hinging on deepfakes. pretty pictures and jessie is cool, wish alex garland gave her more to do than walk around and say “wot?” reacting to these silly ass scenes

  • Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

still terribly written (michael waldron count your days) but far more enjoyable knowing what to expect. i still hate a lot of this but i found more to like this time, mostly due to raimi’s style

  • Moon Knight

    Moon Knight

has more ups and downs than i wouldve liked but episode 5 was definitely one of my favorite things marvel has ever done. sometimes great sometimes lame and overall winds up somewhere in the middle. oscar isaac is wonderful though and this character has a bright future, just wish the start was a bit stronger

  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2

    Sonic the Hedgehog 2

i was supposed to be in this movie but on the day of filming they decided to go in a different direction and my sonic 2 journey was cut short before it even began

good to know that they had time for jim carrey flossing though

  • Morbius

literally like murphys law, every time i thought this couldnt get worse it triples down and winds up as the most incomprehensible movie put out by a studio since maybe the rise of skywalker

  • Everything Everywhere All at Once

    Everything Everywhere All at Once

basically if adult swim made the lego movie, and somehow pulled it off most of the time. certainly a mess, but only sometimes to a fault. a few moments are twin peaks: the return level visceral and others are mindblowingly dumb fun i loved every second

  • The Batman

    The Batman

i sincerely apologize to matt reeves for all the slander i have said regarding his writing and directing skills. this movie is the work of legends and i’m still in awe, best batman movie ive ever seen by a full stop

  • Dual

super twisted and engaging. don’t let this slip your radar, riley stearns is a great filmmaker and he’s in peak form here. i’ll be thinking about that ending for a very long time

  • After Yang

    After Yang

THAT piano piece man. i can’t believe we get to watch films at the same time that kogonada is making them, a true miracle
