The Worst Person in the World

The Worst Person in the World ★★★½

friendly reminder that you don't need a man to figure out what you want to do with your life :)

The Worst Person in the World depicts the complexity of relationships well and how timing plays a significant role in them as different stages of one's life. Renate Reinsve gives a powerful performance depicting a woman trying to figure out life and relationships as she hits 30 years of age. I liked how the film was broken up and told into 12 chapters, it helped the pacing and flow of the film very well. As much as I enjoyed the film, it did not resonate as much as I had hoped and some aspects of the film fell flat for me. Nevertheless, there are some wonderful scenes in the film that I will continue to think about. The soundtrack is also excellent as it definitely has one of the best collections of songs in a 2021 film. Overall, the film makes the truthful impression that reaching for happiness sometimes makes you the worst person in the world.
