My LB mate Sonny_Jim reviewed this film about 5 months back, and put it into my must-see Watchlist. Well all those months later I've picked up a copy of it on Dvd and everything he wrote about it was right on the money.

I've never seen or read The Asphalt Jungle, but W.R. Burnett's 1949 novel and John Huston's film must have been pretty decent if Delmer Daves' adaptation is anything to go by. This Western starring Alan Ladd and…

    Outlaw Brothers 1990

    More_Badass

    ★★★★ Rewatched by More_Badass 27 Jan 2023

Always enjoyed this but revisiting it now, Outlaw Brothers just feels so perfectly quintessential. Everything you could want or expect in a ‘90s HK action film - Yukari Oshima kicking metric tons of ass, blue-tinted neon-slathered nights, actors and stuntmen clinging from speeding cars, yelling packs of pipe-wielding goons, a knife in the butt, a warehouse full of cardboard boxes, shockingly gratuitous animal cruelty - packed into 97 lightly-comedic fight-&-stunt-filled minutes.

    Kyle Carragher

★★★★ Watched by Kyle Carragher 26 Dec 2004

“I'm gonna steal the Declaration of Independence”

A conspiracy theorists wet dream. A top tier family film, juvenile enough to keep the kids entertained but written and presented in a legitimately intelligent manner where the adults are also going to have a great time. The ensemble kill it, Justin Bartha is fully committed to the bit, Diane Kruger shines in what could’ve been a throwaway role, Sean Bean chews the scenery and while it’s an extremely reserved Nick Cage… it’s still fucking Nick Cage, so he’s a blast. I can’t believe I’m saying this but this film made history fun.
