The discourse surrounding Midsommar has been polarizing, to say the least. While I understand the concerns and criticisms it prompted (and will likely continue to do), perhaps what made it stick so ferociously in my mind is how Ari Aster parades this weirdly fucked up love story as some sinister and eerie horror movie. Of course, it is truly sinister and it most definitely is eerie, but I found something more complex (and maybe personal?) bubbling beneath its surface.
I haven't quite collected all my thoughts, but it's been so fascinating to read the array of opinions it has only recently garnered. I think I really liked it?????
