So, this is my 1000th log on Letterbox'd. Hooray! Let's celebrate by watching my third favorite movie of all time, and one that likely may actually be my favorite after this viewing.

I just feel so alone, even when I’m surrounded by other people.

The first time I watched Lost in Translation was when I was about thirteen years old. Back then my parents were strict on what I watched, especially during the school week, so I would take a…

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

    Really liked this one!

Way more paired down than some of Shamylan’s other stuff and that’s to its benefit. Bautista is excellent, his best performance yet, and I loved Groff and Aldridge.

Some of the editing and flashbacks felt a bit off. I get why they were there but it also felt like what they were communicating came across without them. But they also didn’t add a ton to the runtime either so it’s a toss up. Wow that wig…

I guess I was wrong when I said I never promised anyone. I promised me.

Don’t mind me, just unable to sleep, having existential creative crises and decided to counter that by putting this on and proceeding to heave sob multiple times.

“I’m going to go back there someday” is my personal favorite Muppet song and every time I hear the line “there’s not a word yet for old friends who’ve just met” I feel something in my brain emotionally break.

Wendell and Wild is a technically and emotionally impressive adventure that reminds why Henry Sellick might just be the king of stop motion.

The voice cast is impeccable, as is the writing. If anything, it’s a bit overstuffed, with plenty of things to comment on that inevitably leave a few with less attention than others.

But it’s also a film that’s so incredible on a visual level. It’s undeniably gorgeous, with numerous art styles and types of stop motion all…

There is so much to love here. This is a film that truly bleeds personality, and while the freeze frames and filters might not be everyone's cup of tea, it nonetheless succeeds in creating exactly the kind of atmosphere the films wants to get its messages and emotions across. Its a really great, silly family adventure. It has all the heart of previous Lord/Miller productions and the voice cast is exceptional. This is a pure and silly delight and I…
