Kyler’s review published on Letterboxd:
Ichi the Killer is probably one of the most whacky films I have seen. Miike’s twisted sense of slapstick for some of the most depraved and disturbed things plays out gloriously in its violent set pieces. In between those lies a pretty interesting and at times hilarious underground yakuza world. I think with erratic and frenetic pace of Ichi the Killer it benefits greatly from rewatches. I am still blown away by the hypnotic ultraviolence, groovy soundtrack, and abrasive editing of this film. This is a brilliant and depraved satire that should be seen by anyone who can stomach it. Also my dvd copy has orgasms on the main menu and if that’s not the sign of quality I don’t know what is.
