Charlie Malick’s review published on Letterboxd:
The phrase "every frame a painting" is one that's been used for many films, but it's taken literally in this one. Every shot is so exquisitely detailed and meticulously crafted that it feels like an actual Victorian painting, with its slow camerawork allowing the viewers to take in the beauty of every scene. Couple that with amazing directing, witty writing, and by far the most impeccable costume design and makeup, and you have the best Kubrick film (which says a lot, considering his rap sheet). The only flaw of this film is that I cannot rate it higher than 5 stars, something Letterboxd should immediately fix!
