film 8
i've had a weird fascination with nuns & catholicism for a few years now (which even led to a time where i was determined to become a nun myself despite not actually believing in god) so i was excited to see such a bizarre sounding movie all about these things.
dark habits is not an amazing film but thereโs something fun about watching nuns shoot heroin, wrestle tigers and scream a lot so i found myself enjoying, despite feeling a little like it was holding back on the excitement.ย
i wanted to know more about sisters manure and sewer rat and damned and snake! and of course yolanda. but not knowing them that well was fine, too. i think the insight we were given into these strange women was just enough. still, i couldnโt help getting a bit greedy..!
and of course i liked the dramatic performances together with the lighter tone around drugs and punishment and sin and all those horrible things.
i held back on giving this an extra star because while i loved the ideas and also the visuals(!), it just felt like something was missing...
