  This felt like bad fan fiction based on 5cream.  Neve Campbell dodged a huge bullet with this one, props to her for knowing her worth and refusing to take part.

  I just hate all these characters from 5/6 and the way they’re written.  Plus they bring back badass Kirby but just make her a generic cop, bring back Gale and have her do pretty much nothing, bring all the characters to NYC and waste that too, say everyone’s expendable in this entry but then kill zero main characters.  A pile of missed opportunities.

  The last half hour is fine enough, but god damn this was just so boring.  Bad writing/acting with very little reward for enduring it, one scene near the beginning that felt like checking a box in an otherwise sexless movie, most people that “opened the box” actually didn’t, and the cenobites were constantly lit and shot in ways that minimize their spookiness.  It also rips off the only thing I don’t like about Evil Dead 2013; a book laying around…
