    Cannibal Holocaust

    ★★★½

Holy fucking shit, what a movie.  Seeing this when I was 16 destroyed my brain and it 100% holds up.

That being said, I can’t rate higher simply because the animal cruelty cannot be justified and on this viewing I fast forwarded most of the turtle scene.  Go vegan.

    ★★★½

This movie missed the point of Cannibal Holocaust as much as you possibly could, but it was a pretty fun watch other than pretty abysmal acting in the first 25 mins or so, and really bad cgi ants/jungle cats.

Also, I REALLY appreciate the lack of animal cruelty in what is essentially a CH remake.

    The Collection

Watched this immediately after watching and loving the first one, only to be pretty let down. The collector himself is way less creepy.  Every character has less depth. Less focus on improvised/homemade traps and more focus on giant welded contraptions which begs the question (like Saw) where the hell did all this fancy equipment come from?  None of the kills were as good. It was just kind of a mess.

    Lake Mungo

I’m pretty shocked at all the good reviews because this was boring as hell, 3/4 of the runtime is slow zooms on blurry pictures it already showed multiple times.

The found footage aspect of this is done really poorly as well.  There’s no mention of the people making this “documentary” or their motivations, and it kept cutting to random shots of the night sky in time lapse which took me out of the movie every time it happened.

If you want to watch nothing happen, pixelated and in slow motion, I guess this ones for you.
