mind boggling this was perry’s debut feature when he already has such a clearly definite cinematic language. this was shown especially in an early montage sequence of keir dullea’s david feeling like a complete outsider even amongst a school of outsiders. there’s especially some long takes stick out too, each revealing a depth and a truth to the characters that a studio picture of this time wouldn’t to this level. the romance…
