I’ve never watched a Sean Baker movie until today and I don’t know what took me so long. This movie is extremely raw and it is so flavorful because of that. While I do want to praise Baker for his direction and writing, the cinematography from Drew Daniels is really going to linger on my mind. Some wide shots just had me in awe. Simon Rex plays a role that I can not picture anyone else playing. He’s so uneasy yet he overloads the charm and charisma. Even though no is going to agree with his plan, Rex is so good I feel bad for Suzanna Son because she’s buying into him due to the personality and quick talking. I do want to say I enjoyed the storytelling because it flowed well and there was enough to take in.
