STEVEN 👻’s review published on Letterboxd:
Ginger Snaps means a lot of different things to a lot of different people, and unfortunately, I'm not one of them. I watched this for the first time last year due to an outcry of similarity to Jennifer's Body, and referenced it in my initial review, but you can't compete where you don't compare, and this certainly isn't at any level for competition.
Katharine Isabelle is never not stunning in her work and is especially good in this performance, so I wanted to revisit to see what others see in the movie; the characters were either insufferable or uninteresting to me, and weird at that. This holds a lot of 2000s horror charm that I desire and yearn nowadays, but looking at others films from this year alone (Final Destination, Scream 3, Urban Legends) it pales worse than Cherry Falls. I'll stick around for the sequel and prequel, but for now, this teen wolf tale is in the middle for me.
Edit: After letting it sit with me overnight, I really liked the cast and werewolf elements. Bumped up half a star!
