STEVEN TOULON’s review published on Letterboxd:
Álex de la Iglesia seems like a big name in the cult film industry, and it's clear as hell why after watching The Day of the Beast. Had no idea what I was in for with this black comedy, but so far, Severin recommendations haven't let me down. Follows a twisted priest on some wacky adventure hunting down the Antichrist on Christmas Eve, and subverts a lot of what you might expect. Really great style here as a Spanish-Italian co-production, and gorgeous in its 4K restoration, sprinkling in so many different genres that never leave room to feel boring. For me, it worked best as a holiday horror, and I highly suggest checking it out when the seasons change, if you haven't already.
