Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 2009
Harry Potter ranking boxd.it/bi7TS
this is my favorite of the films, which is a very unpopular opinion as the film in comparison to the novel is STRAIGHT GARBAGE.
when I was a little boy I use to reenact Snape killing Dumbledore in my grandparents front yard, it was one of the most powerful moments of death for me as a child.
you could pick apart the film for the things it failed to show but the biggest flaw was it's failure to give Albus the funeral he deserved. Michael Gambon's portrayal was so iconic and very personable, so why couldn't fans get the chance to say goodbye.
Alan Rickman's (bless his soul) portrayal of Snape in this film is by far the stand out of the film. the pain, confusion, hurt and betrayal you can feel just by getting the 3 second glimpse into his eyes, that we get after he casts the killing curse.
Visually this film offers up the beautiful shot of Albus circulating the fire spell around him and Harry to keep them safe, while in the caves, and imo it's one of the most beautiful and masterfully crafted shots in the film. Right behind the shot of Harry and Albus on the rock.
