instead of paranormal activity or a possessed book-burning mother, u get a biblically accurate angel-alien that takes a shit on the house for 10 minutes? cinema.
on a more serious note, wow. although it's probably the most straightforward narrative and less metaphorical among jordan peele's filmography, once again he didn't disappoint. a summer blockbuster that can easily be enjoyed (and frightened by) just for the spectacle of it all, while still offering the depth that you would expect from a jordan peele film. creative, enticing, ambitious, NOPE perfectly blends horror thriller and sci-fi, and a brilliant commentary on exploitation, trauma and entertainment.
