  The Whale 2022

  Not as despair-filled as the usual Aronofsky fare, rather a slow and hard pull into a love that seems to drown you. 

  I don’t really want to get into it. 

  While I was watching, I thought it was rather stage-like, the way there’s pretty much one setting, and the characters’ presence in the space—how they take up the space—matters tenfold. And what do you know! It’s based on a stage play. 

  Much like Eraserhead, this movie stirred a paternal instinct…
