I had a fun matinee at the movies watching this today, but it felt far more overwrought and self-congratulatory than it's much better predecessor.
I did love seeing two of my theatre heroes in what I have to assume are their last film roles, and I have been deeply in crush with Janelle Monae for so long that it was thrilling to see her in this role. Also cool that they kept her black and white early aesthetic going in the styling.
Also felt a bit of a prophetic dig at both Kanye and Elon so I appreciated that too.
