Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Star Wars: The Last Jedi ★★★★

You know, I'm not even looking at other reviews before I write this because I don't really care what other people think. Normally, I do, but not tonight.

Tonight this film was just what I needed it to be, and I am so grateful for it. With the win in Alabama on Tuesday and now seeing this where in the opening scroll RESISTANCE was typed in all caps like a not at all subtle dig at our dumpster fire tweeter-in-chief, I feel hope again.

From this film where women make the important decisions and heroic saves, where latinx, asian, anglo, and black people were all represented by significant roles--the diversity, our adminstration just banned as a word the Center for Disease Control can use, on full display. At a time where fascism is alive and well, and we damn well better do something about it, for ourselves, for the children, for the poor, this film spoke of the force within all of us that is precious and vital to preserve.

And frankly, I could care less if you find that corny or cheesy or ridiculously contrived---because Star Wars has always been about good defeating evil, and it still is. I, for one, couldn't be more grateful.
