Despite a few cringe-worthy cliched scenes, it was refreshing to find Cyrano updated to high school. Much like Clueless and 10 Things I Hate About You, classic tales seem to resonate there. There was also much to like in the two leads performances, and their friendship ultimately is the heart of the film. It definitely reminded me of the aches of young love and just how important my friendships were to me then. I love how normal LGBTQIA teen films have become.
Plus, any film that utilizes clips of 4 of my favorite films (including Wings of Desire, my #1) gets at least a half star upgrade.
